What I am about
Fadsmashers mission is simple and transparent, I want to combine all sensationalist doom and gloom media into one place that isn't concurrently attempting to indoctrinate the viewer with some ideology, religion or politrick. I want the website to be a place that people can access offbeat truth news they may not normally stumble across anywhere else without concurrently being exposed to some bullshit propaganda campaign or inundated with advertising for survivalist products, I also do not want to have a store (If you would like a Fadsmashers T-shirt, or other nifty things go to a print shop and do it yourself, send me a picture) which has to be the most morally degrading thing a person can put on an activist website if you ask me...
Why is this relevant?
Because without media you cannot create an aware populous, I have yet to meet one person who criticizes the media yet has taken the initiative to start their own, they are typically the same ones who will rag on you for commenting on politics because you didn't vote... Anyways, clearly working with people in an African village or doing local community work (Which I in fact do) cannot be replaced by media, but media is required to inform people to make these enlightened decisions. So my only agenda is to enlighten people, so that they can be more aware of the various injustices that they otherwise wouldn't be so they maybe... possibly... feel compelled to take action at some point in the future. Although this cannot be measured I am certain this website has already done a lot towards this end.
What I want to create
I want to make a page that is up to date and relatively concise in terms of coverage of offbeat oppressively tantalizing issues the bullshit media wont touch, also to make a place where its OK to criticize the alternative media as well. It will be trimmed of all the usual uninteresting bullshit patriots haarp on about... Its in your face sensationalist boot stomping, and is satirical for the sake of making it palatable and not so far gone, that someone with no wisdom would be averse to it (I dont want to preach to the choir, it has to be this way to be amendable to peoples attentions spans). I (Nathan Human) or others will add our two cents every now and again, and provide periodical summaries of what shit looks like hitting the fan through the perspective of a third eye, but by and large it is a place for you to get alternative news, without all the covert propaganda bullshit as exemplified in Infowars, democracy now, and rense.com (all of which push political agendas), and the bullshit DVD specials that follow. I also want to promote the smashery of other artists, namely cutting edge social commentary or hardcore passionate ranting. So I want it to be a 'prosumer 'of sorts, producing its own information and unique write-ups, with a touch or spoof and satire, and an up to date collection of all relevant media links, and news stories that are just fucking oppressively wild!!! I want this to be a collective affair, I made this website what it is, by me myself and I, if there were 4 smashers like myself going full steam, working together, the Onion would be out of business in a week... There is an opportunity here not only to carve a cutting edge alternative media niche, but to HAVE AN ACTUAL POSITIVE IMPACT ON THE STATE OF THINGS!!!
Barriers to making it happen
Funding is ultimately everything. That bullshit fake stuff they call money is required to take this website to the next level, make it more user friendly and more well wired to the web (currently blogs are not published on Google etc.). I am working on a plan that is sustainable and non-profit based that will allow us to cover costs, while donating any excesses to charities after operational costs (writers, artists, webmaster etc). As much as I have enjoyed sacrificing the last 2 years of my life towards this end, I feel that in order for me to continue I have to make it my day job. I say again, this is not intended to be a profitable endeavor, emphasis on sustainability, once we have our costs covered and a bit put a way for enhancements the rest will go to credible and worthwhile charities.
My conscience feels OK with this. Am I feeling OK?
I plan on making my financial plan for this website completely transparent, so people can see where every penny is being spent, I am not just biting Obama's rhymes either, part of what makes Fadsmashers what it is honesty. People should know how much income the site earns, how much its writers earn etc (so they can pity them...jokes), and how much thereafter has been generated for immensely important monetary based charities (remember charity in the form of money will not save the world as money is the problem, but an enlightened and aware populous who is knowledgeable about the nuances of the system and its corruption can!!!! Just for the record I have only gone into the negative in the production of this page thus far, and its been a worthwhile sacrifice indeed.
That said, I may be making some changes to the website in order to yield some revenue (not quite sure how yet but working it). The problem is that without a dependable donation income its the only real alternative asides from eccentric millionaires who would only be making an investment (which they expect will grow, be profitable) and government grants which in all honesty would be a long shot if there ever was one.
