The US congress has passed a law in accordance with recent laws protecting childrens toys from toxic levels of lead, that will mandate the incineration of all childrens books written prior to 1985. This does not mean that the content of these books will be suppressed, rather this is being done to ensure that lead based inks and dyes used in writing the books have no adverse health effects on the users. The Orwellian irony of banning 1984 editions of 1984, is sure to kindle notions of impending doom amidst the populous that is beyond screwed anyway.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has ordered thrift retailers and used bookstores to discard all children's books prior to 1985.

Luckily children don't read anymore anyways so... Oh well.
