First off, props to the poster for making us aware of this coincidence regarding the oil rig explosion (see video below). That said. Fuck it. Number one this is not a coincidence, the way the camera pans to the screen just so that you can hear the story about the "Gulf oil rig explosion"  was intentional, THATS NOT TO SAY IT IS MEANINGFUL. In addition the movie also makes reference to solar flares causing cell phone disruptions, a scenario which is currently being groomed for display by scientists like Michiu Kaku. Anyways, why would Summit Entertainment put this information in this movie and blatantly foreshadow this event??? Contrary to popular fringe belief, it is not the illuminati "showing off", rather its the powers that be planting red herrings, quasi-anecdotal evidence for people to ruminate on to the death of themselves while setting themselves up to to endure ridicule for trying to base anything but speculation on this finding. In addition they want us to fear the end of the world, so we DO NOTHING. A more convincing lead may be the fact that safety inspectors were on the rig only 2 hrs before the event happened.

There is little doubt in my mind their was an ulterior motive to this event, whether it be an increase in environmental taxes (that will be largely incurred by the consumer who is at the whim of the oil industries technological monopoly over transportation), to forcing reliance on foreign oil, driving up gasoline prices etc. Its even possible it was a terrorist attack (an actual one) and that they are too embarrassed to admit it, and this view would not be an asset in stigmatizing offshore drilling. They haven't even so much as considered this (terrorism) to be a possibility in the media, when in any other instance their explanations don't extend beyond this!!!
