Reality check. The internet IS the grid. Its an extension of Television, idiot box 2.0. It was not Twitter nor Facebook nor 'meetup' nor wikileaks to which we can attribute any current "revolutions" to just like Elvis didn't invent rock and roll or write any of his own songs. Its like saying that facebook is going to help you effectively revolt against their investor Goldman Sachs LOL!!! Now that's tinfoil hat lunacy!!! I can guarantee that will not happen!
They may fan the flames of some lesser blaze, create some spectacles here and there, but they will never charter a revolution that goes to the top as that would mean certain death! When people rally to protect an internet that has had its integrity compromised they are essentially asking for a more complicated slavery. It is not until we free ourselves from the virtual fuck around that anything substantial is going to get done. I would hope that those in the middle east do not view internet censorship in the negative entirely, its as empowering as it is debilitating. Those cries for the sold out internet are remnants of a conditioned dependency on the system, so long as its a cry for communication and not Facebook, Twitter and the other consolidated systems of cultural control.
