NBC publishes an article praising the concept of digital avatars and how cool it is to have ones identity compressed into a megabyte alter-ego version of themselves, to converse with others of the like; like facebook. An Xbox spokesperson says the introduction of the concept in their video game consol is intended to be “something expressive that allows the player to have a sense of personality in style” while disengaging themselves from such hindrances to personal growth like real communication, thinking about what’s happening in the real world, and spending time with their equally preoccupied loved ones.
