Fadsmashers wasnt hip to an internet service which provides the full contact information of any owner of any blog or website. The website is called "whois", and it provides my personal information for the world to see, because apparently I should have no problem with anyone and everyone knowing my address and personal phone number, especially lunatic zionists...
My webhost tells me that they can block this service for a small fee... After giving them a short lecture on how much of a fucking scam that is, I buckled and will be paying them to block information that they provided to whois without my consent. Anyways to make matters worse, now googles CEO (Eric Schmidt) is saying that if users dont want people to know something about them then they probably shouldnt post it... (i.e. STFU) Obviously he lacks the knack for the sensitive political climate with which we inhabit. Clearly there is a time and place for anonymity, just like there is a time and place for witness protection programs.
The internet oligopolys patchwork of suppressing software has helped keep fadsmashers (among others) on alexas fringes. The comment by googles CEO hints at the internet endgame philosophy, which is make information so readily available and so concise that information which may compromise the status quo can be discouraged by way of privacy. That is, they would love it if we all shut the fuck up and keep worrying about potential snoopy employers and what not who will despise us should we say anything considered 'inappropriate'.
The internet will be the death of free speech, and it wont need a mandate.
