Bieber gets blown away on CSI 02/19/2011
Add Comment I think we need Biebers views on foreign policy, and Mark Zuckerbergs views on job creation, and maybe some random toddlers perspective on health care. Talk about an exercise in futility!!! Why I press on only Justin Bieber knows. Rolling Stone amends controversial Justin Bieber abortion quote Earlier this week, Rolling Stone magazine posted an excerpt of a forthcoming profile of pop star Justin Bieber. Part of it, the part which sent the Internet into a chatter, included the 16-year old Canadian's view on abortion: "I really don't believe in abortion. It's like killing a baby?". Then, pressed further by the magazine, he continued: "Um. Well, I think that's really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I guess I haven't been in that position, so I wouldn't be able to judge that." Rolling Stone has taken heat for pushing the controversial issue on a 16-year old, and today, the magazine added further context to the quote, adding in a sentence: “Well, I think that’s really sad, but everything happens for a reason. I don’t know how that would be a reason. I guess I haven’t been in that position, so I wouldn’t be able to judge that.” The magazine admitted an “editing error” over the quote. Still, the question remains why they pressed a young teenager for a quote on a controversial topic -- unrelated to the subject's industry. Regardless, the publicity can't hurt sales when the magazine hits racks next week. Somali pirate sentenced to 33 years in US prison Prosecutors described Muse as the pirates' ringleader A Somali man who pleaded guilty to piracy has been sentenced in the US to more than 33 years in prison. Abdiwali Abdiqadir Muse is the only survivor of the crew of pirates who attacked the Maersk Alabama merchant ship off Somalia's coast in April 2009. He was captured by the US Navy, whose sharpshooters killed three other pirates trying to escape on a lifeboat with the Alabama's American captain. Muse told the court he was "very sorry for what I did". "I got my hands into something that was more powerful than me," Muse said through a translator. Muse's lawyers had sought the 27-year minimum sentence. 'Relishing cruelty'In federal court in New York, prosecutors had portrayed Muse as a ringleader of the pirate gang who seized the Maersk Alabama some 450km (280 miles) off the coast of Somalia. US District Judge Loretta Preska described the pirates as sadists, noting they had subjected Capt Richard Phillips to a mock execution. "They appeared to relish even their most depraved acts of physical and psychological violence," she said. Before she announced the sentence, Maersk Alabama crew member Colin Wright told the court he was "not the same person I used to be and I never will be". Prosecutors said Muse was the first to board the Maersk Alabama, firing his AK-47 assault rifle at Capt Phillips. READ MORE Why the future is pretty much FUBAR 02/16/2011
Eminem, Jimmy Iovine and "them" 02/13/2011
FROM FOX "NEWS" A. Morrie Craig, a veterinary scientist at Oregon State University, has found that the cud-chewing mammals can efficiently clean up explosives-contaminated soil, of which there are 1.3 million tons throughout the U.S. TNT and other explosives from military munitions training and the remnants of old factories remain in the ground for decades. This residue rarely poses an immediate health threat, but officials at the Department of Defense fear that it could seep into groundwater or poison plants (which has happened before). Conventional cleanup techniques, such as incinerating the soil, are expensive and time-consuming. Sheep will work for free.(!!!!!!) In 2004, Craig discovered that the bacteria in a sheep's stomach that help digest cellulose can also rapidly convert TNT into a harmless compound. In recent experiments, he and researchers from the U.S. Department of Agriculture fed sheep TNT for three weeks and found that it broke down so completely that no traces of it or any related compounds remained in the animals' feces. Designed to protect against improvised explosive devices, Blast Boxers have been available in Europe for about six months by British manufacturer BCB International Ltd. But now the protective shorts made of Kevlar fabric that purportedly protect soldiers in areas where standard body armor does not will be manufactured in upstate New York within three weeks. "We are creating a product here for the U.S. military; everything will be made and manufactured in the United States," BCB's Edward Schmitt told FoxNews.com Wednesday. "We're hoping to have them available by the middle of March." Schmitt said the washable undergarments -- which weigh 6.8 ounces and will cost roughly $95 retail -- are currently being evaluated by military units worldwide, including the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army. The product is compliant with standards issued by U.S. military officials for usage in combat zones, he said. "What we're trying to do is to provide a meaningful level of protection in a new threat environment," Schmitt said. "We're trying to protect the femoral artery."
